Friends of BCAS - Weekly Email 8/11/11

Below is the contents of the weekly Adoptions & Newsletter email sent out on 8/11/11.

Hello, fellow Friends of BCAS volunteers!

Please spare a moment to read the following announcements:

Help us understand you, our volunteer base, by doing this 6-question survey by the end of August, and get chance to win a free Friends of BCAS t-shirt! All feedback is very welcome, but we'd especially love to hear from our non-participating volunteers. You can answer anonymously!

DOG HANDLING CLASS: Animal Advocate John will be holding his next Yellow Dog Handling Class on Thursday, August 18th at 6 PM. Volunteers, come learn about handling potentially difficult dogs, and become approved to walk Yellow-rated shelter dogs!

FOSTER SHELTER CATS: Due to the large amount of cats always coming into the shelter, the shelter has been fostering out cats and kittens to try and ensure there is always space. People interested in fostering should contact the shelter directly, and will be required to fill out an application to foster. If you would like to help, but only want a short-term commitment, contact Linda at lindazaccaria@comcast.net to foster cats for two-week periods to help them get out to rescues!

DOG GROOMING ASSISTANT: Our volunteer dog groomer, Nancy, is looking for some help handling the Yellow-rated dogs (such as Mia, Star, Blaze, etc) for grooming. Interested Yellow walkers should look for Nancy in the shelter's grooming room around 5:30 PM on Mondays or email her at NACJ326@aol.com.

OUR BUSINESS CARDS: Volunteers, you can now find a supply of our cute little business cards on the top shelf of the volunteer cabinet in the conference room, generously stocked by our volunteer Jean Stone. Feel free to pass them out and spread the word about our program! You can also download and print the cards on your own here: http://www.scribd.com/FriendsofBCAS (must log in with a Scribd or Facebook account).

FUNDRAISING & EVENTS TEAM: Help us help the shelter by raising money (and awareness) for improvements! We're looking for people to help out with fundraisers and events such as bake sales, car washes, restaurant dine-outs, donation box placement, manning tables, writing grants and more. We'd like to get a strong team going so that no one single person is responsible for everything. Our current goal is to raise money for fencing to section off the courtyard, so that dog walkers will be able to play off-leash dogs any time! Please email Jenn at jennak87@yahoo.com or Penny at fobcas@yahoo.com if you'd like to help us with our fundraising efforts.

VOTE FOR OUR SHELTER: The Animal Rescue Site is giving away thousands of dollars in grants to shelters with the highest votes here: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/shelterchallenge.faces?siteId=3 - Help us have a chance to win the grand prize of a $5000.00 grant by clicking the link, searching for Burlington County Animal Shelter, and voting for us! You can vote once every day until the contest ends.
