Friends of BCAS - Weekly Email 7/7/2011

Below is the contents of the weekly Adoptions & Newsletter email sent out on 7/7/11.

Hello, fellow Friends of BCAS volunteers!

We are condensing our Monthly Newsletter and the first Weekly Newsletter of each month into the same email, so this one will be a bit longer than usual!

Stats for June 2011:
- Volunteer hours: 351.25 (+39% from May)
- Volunteer visits: 208 (+46% from May)
- Total volunteer participation: 30%

Giant thanks to the following volunteers:
- Tammy Grant is doing a great job as our Facebook Admin.
- Heidi Grundeland is facilitating our Cat of the Month program. Ellie, our first Cat of the Month, already has an adoption application submitted on her!
- Terry Walsh has created a worksheet to track volunteer information and participation.
- Stephanie Bacue, Pat & John MacRonald, Frank Bury & Heidi Grundeland, thanks for bringing joy to so many cats at our Cat Party on 6/11/11!
- Terry Walsh, Cheven & Rich Bonnell, Judy Witt, Frank Bury, Heidi Grundeland and Tammy Grant, thanks for participating in the Earth Fair event on 6/25/11. Three cheers also go to the shelter staff, including Terry Folsom who did quite a bit of work to make the day go smoothly!

I wondered why somebody didn't do something. Then I realized: I am somebody.

Please spare a moment to read the following announcements:

VOLUNTEER SURVEY: Help us understand our volunteer base by doing this 6-question survey by the end of August, and get chance to win a free Friends of BCAS t-shirt! http://www.kwiksurveys.com?u=fobcassurvey

NOTICE: The missing leashes have been discovered! They're being mixed in with the shelter's own supply of leashes. We'll be trying to mark the volunteer leashes to separate them from the rest, but for the time being, if the conference room is locked or otherwise inaccessible, please hang borrowed volunteer leashes on the conference room door and do not leave them at the front desk. Thanks!

EVENT REMINDER: Dog Days of Summer is coming. On July 30th at the shelter, amongst the other vendors and displays, we will be helping the shelter with their table. We're still looking for volunteers to handle dogs, bake things, help setup/packup, et cetera. Email Jenn at jennak87@yahoo.com to help out.

EVENT: Please consider volunteering for BCAA's next Snip It Clinic for Cats on Sunday the 31st in Browns Mills. You can volunteer for the morning shift (from 7 or 8 AM to noon) or afternoon shift (noon to finish). Please email Leila at leilam1065@aol.com to help out. The more cats we help get spayed or neutered, the less cats flood the shelter, and we need all the help we can get!

FUNDRAISER DINNER: Donate to BCAA by having dinner! BCAA will be given 15% of each check from meals eaten on July 13th from 3-9PM at the Red Lion Inn (101 Red Lion Road, Southampton, NJ 08088). The Burlington County Animal Alliance is an animal rescue and foster group, and is a strong supporter of BCAS & Friends. Help the homeless animals of Burlington County with a tasty dinner!

...Thank you! And now, without further ado...

We thought you'd like to see some of the wonderful animals that were adopted most recently! Your efforts help the animals to stay calm and sane, and this makes them so much more attractive to potential adopters. We truly appreciate the time you put in, and we know the animals do too.

More cats and dogs were adopted, rescued, fostered or reclaimed beyond these below, but I don't have pictures!
