Do-It-Yourself Donatables

Shelters are always grateful for donations of animal supplies, but some of those who wish to help are unable or unwilling to outright purchase these items for donation. That's why Do It Yourself projects are so great! Below is a compilation of DIY projects for cat and dog toys and other items. The projects range from cheap and easy to time-consuming and difficult, but even if you stick to the easiest project, our shelter will appreciate your donation!

You can find the standard shelter donation wishlist here:

Recent Adoptions from BCAS - late January 2011

Hello, fellow Friends of BCAS volunteers!

We thought you'd like to see some of the wonderful animals that were adopted most recently! Your efforts help the animals to stay calm and sane, and this makes them so much more attractive to potential adopters. We truly appreciate the time you put in, and we know the animals do too.

Maybe you recognize some of these lucky adopted or rescued cats and dogs?

January 2011 Volunteer Newsletter - 02/01/11

The following was written by Penny, one of Friends of BCAS's coordinators, as the first monthly email to our volunteers.

Friends of BCAS volunteers,

The weather has been awful so far this winter, so we truly appreciate those of you who have been coming out to the shelter to warm an animal's heart.  If you have not been able to come out to the shelter, please try to find some time in your schedule.  We know the animals enjoy your visits.  We are beginning to see the volunteer program impact the number of animals finding homes vs. the alternative none of us likes to think about.
